Events promoter Abtex says Ray G currently commands the highest fee among Ugandan musicians, despite initially thinking the singer’s asking price was too high.
Speaking after Ray G‘s successful August 7 concert at Kololo Airstrip, Abtex revealed that he nearly rejected the singer’s booking when his team first presented the price.
Instead, he took a closer look at Ray G’s career, including his clash with Azawi, the Lugogo Cricket Oval concert, Kakyeka, and other major events.
When I looked at Ray G’s journey, from the Azawi clash to Lugogo Cricket Oval, Kakyeka and Nkuka, I realised this artist had something special.
That convinced Abtex to return to the negotiating table and agree to Ray G’s asking price.
He understood my strategy, and once we agreed, I got to work and he did the same.
Abtex has not revealed the amount Ray G demanded, saying the figure remains private between the singer and his management.
He now describes Ray G as “the most expensive musician in Uganda at the current time,” pointing to the singer’s growing profile and ability to attract audiences beyond Western Uganda.
