Tyga has confirmed something he had previously kept to himself: artificial intelligence (AI) played a role in the making of his new album, $tarface.
The American rapper opened up about it during a conversation with Vibe, where he explained that he deliberately avoided discussing the technology behind his music.
His reason? He believes revealing too much about the creative process can spoil the magic.
I have never spoken on this with anybody because I always felt like it is similar to a magician explaining how he does his tricks. Like why are people over-explaining how they make sh– that is good?
The comment says plenty about how Tyga approaches the growing debate over AI in music.
While listeners increasingly want to know whether artists use artificial intelligence, the “Taste” hitmaker seems to believe that the final product matters more than a breakdown of every tool involved in making it.
He has now confirmed that AI formed part of $tarface, but he has not offered a detailed explanation of exactly how he used it.
That may frustrate some curious fans, but Tyga appears to see the secrecy differently.
To him, keeping part of the process behind the curtain is not something to apologise for because it is part of what makes creating music interesting.
