The Weeknd Reconsiders Retirement After Realising He ‘Loves This Too Much’

The Weeknd appears to have changed his mind about stepping away from music after admitting that he tried retirement and quickly realised it was not for him.

During a recent performance in Stockholm, Sweden, the Canadian singer and songwriter told fans that he could not imagine disappearing from music because of how much he loves what he does.

I will never disappear. I love this too much to ever disappear. I tested retirement a little bit, and I do not like the way it feels. Imma be here forever with you.

The comment comes after Abel Tesfaye spent years talking about the future of his The Weeknd persona and whether he wanted to eventually leave the character behind.

Tesfaye had previously suggested that he wanted to close the chapter on The Weeknd after completing the Hurry Up Tomorrow era.

He described the decision as part of moving into another stage of his artistic life rather than simply abandoning music.

Now, his latest message suggests that the idea of stepping away did not sit well with him.

For fans, that means the singer does not appear ready to disappear anytime soon, despite the uncertainty that surrounded the future of his career.

Tesfaye may still reinvent his artistic identity in the years ahead, but one thing seems clear from his latest comments: he is not ready to stop making music.
