Cardi B Says Fan Criticism Is Making Her Want to Take a Break From Music

Cardi B is ready to step away from the music grind after growing tired of complaints from fans.

The American rapper, born Belcalis Marlenis Almánzar, addressed the backlash over her release schedule during an X Spaces conversation on Tuesday, August 11, saying the criticism has made her want to do less, not more.

Cardi said she has not been spending much time in the studio and does not want fans deciding how quickly she should release music.

She also rejected the idea that every song needs an expensive video, elaborate visuals or a major promotional campaign.

Not everything is going to have the same aesthetic as the other ones.

Instead of responding to the pressure by working harder, Cardi said she wants to enjoy her summer at home with her family.

I told myself I’d take the summer off. I’m going to live my best life. I’m all the way outside.

The timing comes after a packed year for the rapper, who released Am I the Drama? and completed her Little Miss Drama Tour.

Even while stepping back, Cardi continues to make chart history.

Her latest single, “AH HA,” recently earned her 30th top 10 on Billboard‘s Hot Rap Songs chart.

For Cardi, though, another song can wait.

She appears determined to take a break on her own terms rather than allow fan demands to dictate her next move.
