Media personality Evelyn Mic has remained defiant amid reports that Sheilah Gashumba’s lawyers are preparing to take legal action against her.
She insists that she is not intimidated by the prospect of being summoned to court.
Evelyn said her legal team is ready to handle any legal proceedings that may arise, adding that she has no intention of apologising or bowing to what she describes as intimidation.
“I’ve heard the rumours about a possible summon. I’m not shaken. I’m an educated journalist, raised right, with a decent job and MY LEGAL TEAM IS READY. If the summon comes, we’ll receive it. I don’t bow to intimidation or bullying, and there will be NO APOLOGY. Thanks.”
Her remarks followed reports of an alleged Shs880 million pre-action demand issued by Sheilah Gashumba’s lawyers over content allegedly published or aired by Evelyn.
According to the reports, the legal notice demands the immediate deletion of the alleged offending content, a public apology and retraction, an on-air correction on NRG Radio, publication of the apology in a newspaper, and a written undertaking that Evelyn will not repeat the allegations.
She has reportedly been given seven days to comply, with the lawyers threatening to commence court proceedings if she fails to meet the demands.
Evelyn, however, appears ready for the legal battle, maintaining that she will receive any summons served on her and allow her legal team to handle the matter.
