Two men, father and son have been sentenced to death for the murder of former Ndiga Clan head, Engineer Daniel Lwomwa Bbosa.
Lujja Bbosa Tabula and Noah Lugya, alias Fake, pleaded guilty to the murder and admitted the prosecution’s account of how Bbosa was killed.
High Court Judge David Matovu on Thursday handed the two the maximum sentence, saying the killing was premeditated and brutal.
Bbosa was gunned down on February 25, 2024, at Kikandwa, Lungujja, Kampala, as he headed home after attending a clan function in Katosi, Mukono.
He was in his Toyota Prado with his wife, Gladys, and a domestic worker when gunmen riding a motorcycle intercepted them and opened fire.
One alleged attacker, Enock Sserunkuma alias Munaku, identified by prosecutors as the gunman, was beaten to death by an angry mob.
Lugya was rescued by security officers and arrested.
Investigators later recovered an AK-47 rifle, with ballistic tests linking it to ammunition found at the murder scene.
Prosecutors said Bbosa’s murder was linked to a bitter dispute over leadership of the Ndiga Clan. Tabula allegedly opposed Bbosa’s leadership and claimed the position belonged to his family lineage.
The prosecution also alleged that meetings were held months before the murder to plan Bbosa’s elimination after attempts to challenge his leadership through the Kisekwa Court failed.
While Tabula and Lugya have now been sentenced to death, three other accused persons Harriet Nakiguli, Joseph Nakabale and Ezra Mayanja pleaded not guilty and will face trial.
The case against former Kisekwa Court secretary Milly Naluwenda was withdrawn by the DPP.
