Grace Nakimera, a legendary Ugandan songstress, has yet again advised artists to only join a record label or management who practice the same spiritual beliefs as them, or they risk losing their souls to spiritual rituals.
In an interview on The Deep Talk, Nakimera, who will be holding her concert at Kampala Serena Hotel on 11th September 2026, said that record labels want to own the artists entirely, including their spirits, and that they perform rituals on their artists.

Sign with a management/record label when you are on the same spiritual side; otherwise, they will perform rituals on you and take your star. They own you in everything, even spiritually.
She further revealed how being an independent artist is a much better option because it gives the artist their freedom and does not limit their creativity.
Being an independent artist is the best because right now, I wouldn’t be able to perform my songs. Record labels even deprive you of your stage name when you leave. YouTube, catalogue, everything.
I am the kind of artist who has done everything on my own from scratch, from fashion, production, promotion, and stage. I own my music. I don’t understand labels; they limit your creativity.
