Kampala set for Afroswing Night as NSG arrives for Diaspora Concert – Sqoop

British Afroswing collective NSG has arrived in Kampala ahead of the highly anticipated Sounds of the Diaspora concert, with the group meeting fans at Club Guvnor before taking the stage at UMA Showgrounds this weekend.

The London-based collective arrived in Uganda on Wednesday, August 19, ahead of the concert scheduled for Saturday, August 22.

Their first public engagement was an exclusive meet-and-greet at Club Guvnor, where fans had the opportunity to interact with the group, take photographs and catch a glimpse of the energy NSG is expected to bring to the main show.

Known for their distinctive blend of Afrobeats, UK rap, dancehall and hip-hop, NSG have carved out a place in the global Afroswing scene, making their Kampala appearance one of the weekend’s notable international music events.

The Sounds of the Diaspora concert will bring together NSG and a lineup of Ugandan acts, creating a meeting point between the sounds of the African continent and the influence of the diaspora.

Among the local performers scheduled to join the British collective are Fik Fameica, MUN G, Aaronx and Tojo 256. DJs Alisha, Vanss and Linus will also take to the decks, serving up a mix of Afrobeats, Amapiano, hip-hop, dancehall and urban music.

The event will be hosted by Viana Indi, Hype Cartel and Pest MC, among others.

For Guvnor Uganda and Bandali Manor, the concert is part of a push to bring international entertainment to Kampala while creating platforms where Ugandan artists can share the stage with global performers.

Following Wednesday’s meet-and-greet, the spotlight now shifts to UMA Showgrounds, Lugogo, where the main concert will take place on Saturday.

Fans can access the event through single passes priced at Shs75,000. Tables for four are priced at Shs1.5 million, while a table for eight costs Shs2.5 million.

With NSG at the centre of the lineup and a strong local supporting cast, Sounds of the Diaspora is expected to offer a night that celebrates the evolving relationship between African music and the global diaspora.

Tickets are currently on sale, with organisers encouraging fans to purchase in advance.
