Dancehall singer A Pass is not thinking small.
After successfully taking his music to the stage at Serena Hotel in 2025, the singer has now set his sights on one of Uganda’s biggest outdoor concert venues, Kololo Airstrip, where he plans to stage his next major show in 2027.
Dubbed A Pass Live: Kololo Airstrip 2027, the concert was announced on Sunday, August 23, as the singer signalled his intention to make the leap from an intimate indoor concert setting to one of Kampala’s largest entertainment spaces.
The announcement places A Pass among a growing number of Ugandan musicians looking beyond conventional concert venues as established artists increasingly turn to Kololo for major career-defining shows.
But for A Pass, the decision is not simply about following a trend.
He believes his journey has reached a point where returning to Serena would mean repeating something he has already accomplished.
“I don’t see a reason to go back to Serena. I did what I wanted to do there. We are going to Kololo,” he explained during a TikTok Live session.
The singer also dismissed suggestions that Kololo could be too ambitious for him, arguing that the size of the venue is precisely what attracts him.
“Whoever says it’s a big venue, that’s your opinion because that’s not how I’m seeing it. I prefer it because it’s big and people will park nicely and I sing for them,” he said.
For A Pass, the venue is as much about the experience as it is about capacity. He wants his audience to have enough space to move, park comfortably and enjoy the concert without the restrictions associated with smaller venues.
And judging by his early conversations with fans, he believes there is already appetite for the show.
“People have already started saying they are going to buy five or 10 tables. Come and see a luxury artist in 2027 at Kololo,” he said.
The confidence comes after a successful 2025 concert at Serena Hotel, which gave the singer an opportunity to test his ability to carry a major live show.
His next challenge is considerably bigger.
No Dancing, Just Music
While many Ugandan concertgoers have come to expect elaborate choreography, dance routines and celebrity cameos at major shows, A Pass has already warned his audience not to expect him to suddenly transform into a dancer.
“If you expect to see me dancing on that day, forget about it. If you are coming to the show, be rest assured that you are only coming to see me sing,” he joked.
The singer explained that dancing has never been his strength and that an earlier attempt almost ended badly.
“I can’t dance and I will never dance. The only time I tried, I almost got broken,” he said.
That does not mean the concert will be short on spectacle.
A Pass revealed that he intends to work with renowned Ugandan events production company Fenon to develop a show that matches the scale of the venue.
“The show will entail a lot. You guys will enjoy, and we will sit with Fenon and come up with something good for you,” he said.
The emphasis, however, will remain on his music.
For an artist whose career has been built largely around songwriting, vocal delivery and an unmistakable fusion of dancehall, reggae and contemporary sounds, the concert presents an opportunity to remind audiences of the depth of his catalogue.

A Concert for Artists Too
Interestingly, A Pass does not want the concert to be solely about himself.
He has invited fellow musicians to attend and participate in the experience, although not necessarily as performers.
The singer joked that some artists, including Lil Pazo, could attend as guests of honour, but made it clear that he would not simply fill his stage with musicians for the sake of having celebrity appearances.
Instead, he wants artists to come, pay for the experience and learn from the production.
He challenged fellow musicians to treat the concert as an opportunity to study how a major show is built, from production and staging to audience management and overall presentation.
His approach is somewhat unusual in an industry where artists often compete for stage time and celebrity collaborations at major concerts.
For A Pass, however, the concert can serve a broader purpose: demonstrating what is possible when an artist takes ownership of his own show.

Following the Kololo Trail
A Pass’ decision comes after other Ugandan artists have successfully taken their music to Kololo.
The venue has recently hosted major concerts by artists such as Ray G and King Saha, further establishing it as a destination for musicians looking to stage large-scale shows.
Rather than seeing those concerts as competition, A Pass appears to view them as evidence that Ugandan artists can successfully fill large outdoor spaces when they build enough anticipation around their brands.
He has therefore chosen to follow that path rather than retreat to a smaller venue.
“We won’t go to Namboole. No, don’t stress yourselves over it. We are going to Kololo,” he said.
The declaration is also a statement of confidence.
For an artist who has spent years building a reputation beyond the conventional boundaries of Ugandan mainstream music, the concert could become another test of just how far that audience has grown.
The Marriage Factor
A Pass also connected his confidence about the concert to a new chapter in his personal life.
Reflecting on his marriage, he joked that there are certain things God does when a person settles down.
“There are things God does when you get married. I am sure I am going to fill Kololo,” he said.
It was delivered with humour, but the underlying message was clear: the singer believes he is entering the concert with renewed energy and confidence.
Still, much of the practical information about the event remains under wraps.
A Pass has not yet announced the exact date, ticket prices or the full list of performers and production partners. He has, however, urged fans to start preparing financially for the event.
“Please save money, prepare yourselves and come 2027. Come see A Pass live in Kololo,” he said.
That leaves the biggest question unanswered: can A Pass turn his confidence into a full Kololo crowd?
For now, the singer is betting that the answer is yes.
And as he puts it, “We shall fill Kololo.”
