Emma Heming Willis has spoken about the possibility of brain donation and how it could help researchers better understand frontotemporal dementia (FTD), the disease affecting her husband, Hollywood actor Bruce Willis.
However, the Willis family has not publicly confirmed a formal plan to donate Bruce’s brain after his death.
Emma has instead discussed becoming comfortable with the idea of brain donation because of its potential to help scientists study FTD and better understand the disease.
Bruce’s family announced in February 2023 that the Die Hard star had frontotemporal dementia after previously revealing his aphasia diagnosis.
FTD can affect a person’s language, behaviour and personality, and doctors currently have no cure for the disease.
As Emma continues to speak about caregiving and life with FTD, she has also helped bring attention to the importance of research.
