Taylor Swift has opened up about how she handles criticism, revealing that she chooses her words carefully when she decides to respond.
Speaking during the Grammy Museum’s Icon Sessions with Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason Jr., the American singer and songwriter said criticism can sometimes fuel her creativity.
However, Swift also admitted that she occasionally enjoys hitting back in her own way. She said she sometimes chooses words that her critics may have to look up before they can understand her response.
The 14-time Grammy winner also reflected on the intense backlash surrounding her 2017 album, “Reputation.” Rather than respond with straightforward explanations, she said the experience pushed her to channel those feelings into her music.
Swift said she has developed different ways of coping with the pressures that come with fame. One of them involves reminding herself that she has consciously chosen to remain in the industry because making music remains worth the challenges that come with it.
So, when critics come for Taylor Swift, she may not always ignore them. Sometimes, she simply writes the comeback into the music.
