American actor and R&B singer Tyrese Gibson is in Uganda, where he is exploring the country’s coffee industry as part of efforts to promote coffee tourism to international audiences.
The Fast & Furious and Transformers star is getting a closer look at Uganda’s coffee journey, from the farms where the beans are grown to the final cup.
His visit has been welcomed by the Uganda Tourism Board (UTB), which is using the international star’s presence to highlight the people, culture and craftsmanship behind Uganda’s coffee.
UTB Chief Executive Officer Juliana Kagwa said Gibson’s visit provides an opportunity to tell Uganda’s coffee story to a wider global audience.
“We are thrilled to host Tyrese Gibson as he discovers Uganda’s coffee tourism firsthand. His visit shines a global spotlight on the passion, heritage, and craftsmanship behind every cup grown on our fertile soils,” Kagwa said.

Uganda is one of Africa’s leading coffee producers, with the crop supporting millions of livelihoods while remaining an important contributor to the country’s export earnings.
But beyond the beans and their commercial value, tourism authorities are increasingly looking at coffee as an experience that can bring visitors closer to Uganda’s communities and agricultural heritage.
Through coffee tourism, visitors can explore plantations, meet farmers and learn how coffee is cultivated and harvested before following the beans through processing, roasting and preparation.
For tourists, that offers a different way of experiencing Uganda, combining agriculture, food, culture and community tourism.
Gibson’s visit comes as Uganda continues to promote experiences that go beyond its traditional tourism attractions, including wildlife and adventure, by encouraging travellers to engage more closely with local communities and the country’s cultural and agricultural heritage.
Through its Explore Uganda campaign, UTB is positioning coffee tourism as another reason for international travellers to discover the country, experience its landscapes and meet the people behind one of its most important products.
