Two held over Kajjansi panga robbery

Police have arrested two suspects accused of attacking residents with pangas and robbing them of property in Kajjansi, Wakiso District.

The robbery happened on August 21, 2026, in Sekiwunga Cell, Kitende Ward, Kajjansi Town Council. According to Police, the suspects reportedly stormed a home while armed with pangas and robbed the occupants of several items.

The first suspect, identified as Kakoza Derrick, a motorcycle rider, was arrested on August 22. Police said some of the property allegedly stolen during the robbery was recovered from his home during a search.

Investigators later arrested the second suspect, Mukalasi John Bosco, also known as Ali Junior, on August 25.

Police said Mukalasi had only recently returned from Kigo Prison, where he had reportedly completed a sentence after being arrested by Kira Police in 2023 in connection with an aggravated robbery case.

The two suspects are currently being held at Natete Police Station. They are expected to be transferred to Kajjansi Police Division as investigations continue before they are taken to court.

Police said inquiries into the robbery are still ongoing. ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, the Deputy Public Relations Officer for Kampala Metropolitan Police, said the force remains committed to pursuing suspects involved in violent crimes and recovering stolen property.

Police have also urged members of the public with information about the robbery to assist investigators.
