Kid Fox Breaks Silence on Music Hiatus, Explains Why He Left Uganda

After 16 years away from Uganda, veteran musician Kid Fox is back home and ready to return to the music scene.

The singer left Uganda for Japan at a time when his career faced challenges, but the years abroad eventually gave him a different perspective on home and music.

While he has kept some of the personal challenges that shaped his absence private, Kid Fox says he now feels ready to get back to doing what he loves.

I have been lost musically for some time, but expect great music ahead. I am now back in music and you are not ready.

His long stay abroad also sparked speculation about what had taken him away from Uganda for so many years.

Among the rumours was a claim that an older woman had financially supported or invested in him. Kid Fox dismissed the story, explaining that he went to Japan to work and look for money.

I had gone to work, nothing related to a woman. I went abroad to look for money, but I was missing Uganda and my people, so I had to come back.

The years away also left Kid Fox longing for the people and environment he had left behind.

Music from Uganda remained within reach, and during his time abroad, he came across Fyno’s work. The artiste’s music caught his attention, prompting Kid Fox to consider a collaboration now that he has returned.

The only artist I know is Fyno. I used to listen to his music while abroad, so I will even give him a collabo.

Kid Fox also mentioned Vyroota among the Ugandan artistes he knows.

With 16 years of life abroad now behind him, Kid Fox has returned to Uganda with his sights back on music and a promise of new material.
