Tooro Crown Prince David Kiijanangoma Araali has died at the Uganda Cancer Institute in Mulago, Kampala, journalist Andrew Irumba has reported.
Kiijanangoma, an elder brother to the newly installed Tooro King, Edward Kiijanangoma Amooti, reportedly succumbed to throat cancer.
In a statement announcing the death, Irumba described the development as a breaking tragedy for the Tooro royal family, which is still mourning the death of the late Omukama Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV.
“Crown Prince David Kiijanangoma Araali has died at Mulago Cancer Institute,” Irumba said, adding that Kiijanangoma had been battling throat cancer.
The death adds another loss to the Tooro royal family, coming shortly after the death of King Oyo, who passed away at the age of 30 after nearly three decades on the throne.
Kiijanangoma was a prominent member of the Tooro royal family and was an elder brother to King Edward Kiijanangoma Amooti, who has recently assumed the throne.
Further details regarding the circumstances of his death, funeral arrangements and official communication from the Tooro Kingdom are expected to follow.
