According to singer Spice Diana, Bad Black’s dramatic journey from lavish wealth to financial struggles carries a lesson that goes far beyond celebrity gossip.

The singer says the socialite’s experience shows how quickly relationships can change when money disappears, particularly when some of the people who once benefited from your success are no longer around to support you.

Speaking at Bad Black’s Beauty Beyond the Scars press conference at Skyz Hotel Naguru, Spice recalled asking the socialite a question that had stayed with her.

“I asked her, Bad Black, how do you feel having had money one day and the next minute you even don’t have money for Yaka, and then the friends you had, especially those you wished well and did good things for, are no longer there for you?” Spice said.

Bad Black, whose real name is Shanita Namuyimbwa, rose to prominence as one of Uganda’s most recognisable socialites, largely because of her extravagant lifestyle.

Her public image was built around expensive cars, designer clothes, international travel and conspicuous spending. But that lifestyle later unravelled amid financial difficulties, legal troubles and other controversies.

For Spice, however, the most striking part of Bad Black’s story is not the wealth she accumulated or eventually lost, but what happened to the relationships around her.

She said she had heard stories about Bad Black long before becoming a well-known artiste herself and had wanted an opportunity to reach out to her.

“I had those stories way back when I was still in school, and I couldn’t get back to you, but we are on the same panel now,” she said.

Their eventual meeting therefore gave Spice an opportunity to reflect on a story she had followed from a distance for years.

Rather than viewing Bad Black’s experience simply as a tale of poor financial decisions, Spice sees it as a reminder that wealth can attract people whose loyalty may not survive when the money is gone.

Her message also carries a personal dimension. Having built her own career in Uganda’s competitive music industry, Spice appears conscious of the importance of knowing the difference between people who genuinely care and those drawn to the benefits that come with success.

For her, Bad Black’s story is ultimately a warning: money can change your lifestyle, but losing it can also reveal who was genuinely invested in you and who was simply invested in what you had.

The road to the Miss Uganda crown 2026, rolled into the Western region with beauty, ambition and celebration on full display, as Murungi Angel Liz emerged winner Miss Uganda West 2026.

This happened over the weekend where competition, music, and community support brought together contestants, fans and cultural tastemakers from across the region.

Held at Motiv in Bugolobi as part of the ongoing Miss Uganda regional tour, the event showcased the talent and confidence of the contestants and the growing excitement surrounding this year’s competition, with supporters turning out in large numbers to cheer on their favourites and celebrate the region’s finest young women.

“As V&A Sherry, we stand for moments where women are empowered. Ours is a sorority built on empowering one another, and we have seen remarkable young women emerge from every corner of Uganda. We are honoured to be part of creating experiences that reward and celebrate their courage, ambition and achievements,” said Roy Ronald Tumwizere, Brand Manager, V&A Sherry.

The Western Region finale followed a memorable weekend of activities that began on Friday evening with the V&A Party with the Queens. Away from the competition stage, contestants enjoyed an evening of music, dancing and bonding as they prepared for the regional finale. The gathering offered the young women an opportunity to relax, build friendships and celebrate the journey they had undertaken together before facing the judges.

By Sunday, fans packed the venue early, waving banners, chanting contestants’ names and erupting into cheers as each queen stepped onto the runway. The atmosphere intensified with energetic performances from celebrated duo Kateleya and Kandle, alongside a lineup of emerging artists whose performances kept the audience engaged throughout the evening.

When the final results were announced, Murungi Angel Liz was crowned winner of the Western Region title, earning her place in the national competition. Arinda Maria Joyce secured the position of first runner-up, while Owomugisha Shivan was named second runner-up.

Among the loudest cheers of the night came from a group of content creators and influencers who had gathered to support their friend, Arinda Maria Joyce. Throughout the competition, they documented the event, rallied support online and celebrated every moment of her journey to the podium.

The excitement spilled beyond the runway and onto the stage itself when a popular content creator- Solomon Kimera, from the audience was invited to showcase his modeling skills. His impromptu performance drew laughter, applause and chants from the crowd, becoming one of the evening’s most memorable moments.

For many attendees, the event was a chance to support their own– friends, sisters, and family who had boldly chosen to represent their communities and inspire others to dream beyond what they see or know.

With only the Central Region leg left on the tour, Western region exits the stage knowing it has already produced a winner worth celebrating. Having written its own chapter into this year’s Miss Uganda story, one shaped by talent, friendship and community support.
