Renowned Kadongo Kamu singer Gerald Kiweewa announced the heartbreaking news of the passing of his wife, who died on Monday night.

The veteran singer shared the devastating news while fulfilling a performance commitment at Jovial City Hangout in Makindye, explaining that although he would have preferred to be home mourning with his family, he had already been booked for the show.

The mother of my eldest children has passed away. Our firstborn is Jemba Joseph, followed by Nalinya and Nakiweewa. I should have been home mourning her, but I had already committed to performing here today.

Kiweewa went on to reflect on their long journey together, revealing that they started their family at a very young age.

I got together with my wife when I was 17 and she was 14. We had children and raised them together, and I never want any DNA tests. Thankfully, she passed away without ever giving my children any reason to doubt that I am their father.

A vigil was held at the home of their firstborn son, Jemba, in Akright.

By the time Kiweewa announced the sad news, the family had not yet finalized the funeral program. Burial and funeral arrangements are expected to be communicated after a family meeting.

Former Minister of State for Youth and Children Affairs, Florence Nakiwala Kiyingi, has urged young people to avoid having children before they are financially and emotionally prepared to raise them.

Speaking on the subject of responsible parenthood, Nakiwala emphasized that having children should be a personal choice rather than something driven by societal pressure, competition, or obligation.

She advised young people to carefully plan for parenthood and ensure they are capable of providing for a child’s basic needs, including food, education, and overall well-being.

It is not advisable to give birth before you are prepared and have a clear plan for how you will provide for your child, feed them, and educate them. Giving birth is not a race or a competition. It is a choice, not an obligation.

Nakiwala also argued that countries that have achieved significant development placed greater emphasis on population planning and responsible parenthood.

She cited China as an example, referring to its former one-child policy, which imposed strict limits on family size for many years.

Some of the nations that have developed started by putting in place tough restrictions. In China, for example, people were once limited to having only one child.

The restrictions were so strict that someone could even be prevented from having a second child if they lacked the means to support another child. Here, many people continue to have children without adequate planning.

She further expressed concern that many people treat parenthood too casually, urging individuals to take greater responsibility for their lives and the future of the families they intend to raise.

“People take the issue of giving birth as if it is a joke. I call upon everyone to take personal responsibility for how they handle their lives and prepare for the future.”

Levixone has credited singer-turned-politician Bobi Wine for giving him the advice that eventually led to his first successful trip to the United Kingdom after an initial visa rejection.

Speaking in an interview with Allan Cruz, the gospel singer recalled that his first attempt to secure a UK visa ended in disappointment. While his manager was granted a visa, his own application was denied, and embassy officials reportedly informed him that the decision could not be appealed.

Unsure of what to do next, Levixone said he happened to meet Bobi Wine as he was leaving and shared his frustration.

According to Levixone, Bobi Wine encouraged him not to accept the decision without trying again. He advised him to file an appeal despite what he had been told. Although he had almost given up on travelling, the singer followed the advice and worked with the event organisers to strengthen his case.

Levixone explained that the organising team later contacted the mayor of the area where he was scheduled to perform, who wrote a supporting letter to the British embassy.

With the additional documentation, the appeal was reconsidered, and within two weeks he was granted a UK visa, allowing him to travel to the country for the first time.

Levixone has opened up about his marriage to Desire Luzinda, revealing that the couple has never had a fight or even a heated argument since they got together.

Speaking in a recent interview, the singer described his wife as calm and peaceful, saying he has never seen her raise her voice at him.

“I have never seen Desire shout or even argue,” Levixone said, adding that their relationship has remained harmonious over the years.

He also shared a light-hearted story about convincing Desire to switch her football allegiance from Arsenal to Manchester United. According to him, he even kept one of her Arsenal jerseys as a reminder of her journey from supporting the Gunners to becoming a Red Devils fan.

She was supporting Arsenal and I changed her to support Man U. I even put her Arsenal jersey somewhere for her to see her transition journey and we now watch the games together. Man United means united.

Levixone also addressed the viral AI-generated image that recently circulated on social media showing Desire Luzinda with what appeared to be a baby bump.

He dismissed the image as fake, saying his wife is not pregnant and that the picture was created using artificial intelligence.

“The photo itself is AI. I don’t know who did it but whoever did it, they might be after something,” he said, cautioning fans against believing everything they see online.
