Mudra D Viral has spoken out amid an ongoing dispute with rising singer D Star over earnings from the “Hoozambe” remix, firmly denying allegations that he pocketed millions from the project.
The controversy erupted after D Star claimed Mudra earned up to Shs140 million from the song’s performance on YouTube before deleting it, and demanded a share of the alleged revenue.
However, Mudra has dismissed the figure as inaccurate, insisting the earnings have been exaggerated and that he is yet to recover the money he invested in producing and promoting the remix.

According to Mudra, the confusion stems from misinformation about how digital music revenues are calculated. He pointed to advice allegedly given to D Star by industry figure Kalifah Aganaga, saying even experienced artists can sometimes misinterpret streaming income.
Kalifah who told him about the earnings has been in the industry for a long time, he would know how the payments work. I asked them to meet my managers so they could verify everything themselves, but they refused.
He further emphasized his willingness to be transparent, revealing that he uses TuneCore to collect royalties and is ready to publicly disclose his earnings.
I want them to come with cameras and I open my account, TuneCore and everything, so they can see the truth. The figures they are claiming are false.
Addressing criticism over deleting the video, Mudra said the decision was driven by the accusations leveled against him.
“I pulled it down because I was being called a thief,” he noted.
Mudra also stressed that he has not paid D Star any proceeds from the song because the project has not yet broken even.
In a more personal note, the artist revealed that his faith has influenced his response to the situation.
I’m now a fully devoted Muslim, and I’m past the image they want to portray of me being a thief. My religion of Islam doesn’t allow that.
