Former Kampala Lord Mayor and president of the People’s Front for Freedom (PFF) Erias Lukwago has been further remanded to Luzira Prison.
He is expected to return to the Makindye Chief Magistrate’s Court on June 30, 2026, for the mention of his case.
According to Lukwago’s lawyer, Medard Ssegona, the court deferred its ruling on the bail application due to the prevailing conditions in and around the courtroom, as well as the numerous issues raised by both parties that require careful consideration.
He explained that the magistrate will deliver the bail ruling within 24 hours via email.
Lukwago’s next court appearance coincides with the scheduled return of Dr. Kizza Besigye to court, whom Lukwago represents as the lead counsel.
Lukwago is facing a charge of misprision of treason, which alleges that an individual had knowledge of plans aimed at unlawfully changing the government but failed to report the information to the relevant authorities.
