Local Government Minister Balaam Barugahara has invited anyone dissatisfied with the government’s DNA findings in the Paul Kafeero paternity dispute to pursue independent testing.
His remarks came after government forensic DNA results confirmed only four of the 25 people claiming to be children of the late Kadongo Kamu legend as his biological offspring.
Speaking during the official release of the findings, Balaam acknowledged that some claimants may disagree with the outcome but insisted they remain free to seek a second scientific opinion.
If you are a child of Kafeero and you are not contented, write a letter, get samples and go to the laboratory you want.
Balaam played a central role in resolving the nearly two-decade dispute.
He financed the forensic exhumation of Paul Kafeero’s remains, funded the reconstruction of the singer’s gravesite, and worked alongside the Uganda Police Force and the Directorate of Government Analytical Laboratory to oversee the DNA exercise from start to finish.
According to the minister, the objective was to establish the truth through science and bring clarity to a dispute that had divided Kafeero’s family for years.
While the government considers the forensic findings conclusive, Balaam said anyone who remains unconvinced is free to verify the results through an independent laboratory.
His position leaves the door open for further scientific review while reinforcing the government’s confidence in the DNA exercise that identified only four biological children among the 25 claimants.
