A post about the military presence outside KFM has thrust Ugandan rapper Thee Ninja C, born Cynthia Tumine, into one of her biggest social media storms yet.
The daughter of the late Ugandan military officer Gen. Elly Tuhirirwe Tumwine came under heavy criticism after posting about the military presence outside KFM, with some users accusing her of only speaking out now even though similar incidents occurred during her father’s lifetime.
The criticism quickly turned personal.
One user accused Ninja C of ignoring the fears many Ugandans had lived with for years, arguing that she only found her voice after those same issues appeared to hit closer to home.

Rather than ignore the backlash, the rapper answered her critics directly.
Responding to one user, she wrote:
I’m not who you are mad at unfortunately and that sucks for you but also I can’t help you with your sentiments. Let me swim in the last remains of my privilege no?
When another commenter brought up her late father, Ninja C made it clear she had no intention of apologising for him or carrying the weight of other people’s grievances.
Well he did die, 100 percent in a much better place than Earth currently I can assure you… Did you pop the champagne? Did you feel better? Then why are you in my interactions? Block me again so you can heal.
As the debate intensified, Ninja C posted a lengthy message saying she had spent nearly 15 years using X to freely express herself and would not stop because of online criticism.
She said she had finally confronted one of the people she considers a long-time online bully and encouraged anyone who dislikes her content to simply block or unfollow her instead of constantly monitoring her posts.
Yesterday I had the time to speak up and deal directly with a specific online bully… I was happy with the final results, which involved her blocking me, and I encourage the same behavior from the rest of you that delight in hate-watching me.
She ended her statement with one final message for people she believes have spent years trolling her online.
I’m currently addressing 10 years plus of my professional trollers directly only. Now the rest are all blowing up my mentions so they can get me to respond to them also. Keep waiting, your day will also come bambi.
For Ninja C, the backlash has changed nothing. She says she will continue using X on her own terms, leaving critics to decide whether to keep arguing with her or simply hit the block button.
