Grace Nakimera appears ready to reconnect with the sound that first made her a household name.
The outspoken born-again Christian has admitted that many fans still prefer her older secular hits to the gospel music she has released in recent years, and says she has already acted on the message.
During a recent interview with Sanyuka TV, Grace revealed that she has returned to the studio after reflecting on the overwhelming love fans continue to show songs such as “Sexy.”
I also do not know what is going on. But I sat myself down and counselled myself. Lately, I have been in the studio, and you are going to hear more megahits. People have shown me that they love my songs, such as “Sexy.” My people, I am very sorry for the delay, but I am back. As long as I am not vulgar, this is work. We have to do what the people want.
Her latest remarks build on what she revealed in June while promoting her September 11 concert, “The Power of Grace.”
At the time, Grace announced that she would perform both her secular and gospel songs, insisting they all represent different chapters of her life.
She also stressed that revisiting her old music would not mean returning to the revealing image that once defined her career.
While Grace stopped short of saying she is leaving gospel music behind, her latest comments suggest fans can expect music that leans closer to the sound that made her famous.
One thing, however, has not changed.
The singer insists she will not sacrifice the values she embraced after becoming born again, making it clear that no matter what music she releases next, she will not become vulgar.
