Singer Posha UG has expressed disappointment after she was reportedly denied the opportunity to perform at Ray G’s sold-out concert at Kololo Airstrip, despite arriving hours before the show and preparing extensively for the event.
In an emotional post shared on social media, the Enshonga singer said she arrived at the venue at around 6 p.m. and spent the rest of the evening watching other performers take to the stage while waiting for her turn, which never came.
The singer, whose name had appeared on the official lineup for the concert, said she had invested both time and money rehearsing for the performance, only to leave without stepping on stage.
“Enough is enough,” she wrote. “I was denied the Ray G Live in Concert stage despite arriving at 6 p.m. I watched artiste after artiste who came after me get their chance to perform. Why wasn’t I given mine?”
Posha directed her frustration at event emcees MC Kacheche and Councillor Amon, questioning why she was left out when other invited artists were given the opportunity to perform.
“It is the second time it is happening, and I was so ashamed, humiliated and embarrassed. I felt like I wasn’t supposed to be there,” she said.
She further criticised what she described as the growing influence of emcees at concerts in western Uganda, arguing that some spend too much time on stage at the expense of musicians.
“Emcees have taken over shows in Mbarara. If you can do the shows on your own, why do you invite us to perform? Why would an emcee get 40 minutes on stage and an artiste not perform?” she asked.
Notably, Posha did not blame Ray G for the incident, instead directing her concerns at those responsible for coordinating the stage programme.
Her remarks have since sparked debate on social media, with some fans sympathising with her frustration while others called for better planning and time management at concerts to ensure all scheduled performers get an opportunity to entertain audiences.
