Police arrest driver behind deaths of two Next Media journalists

Police have arrested Kigozi John Baptist, the driver of the vehicle involved in the fatal crash along Entebbe Road that claimed the lives of two Next Media journalists, Isaac Ndamagye and Producer Badru Kasirye.

Kigozi was arrested last night in a joint operation involving several security agencies, according to Uganda Police.

The crash occurred in the Namulanda area along Entebbe Road and also left Sanyuka TV presenter Brian Macona seriously injured.

Uganda Police spokesperson SP Michael Kananura confirmed the arrest in a statement shared on X.

The driver identified as Kigozi John Baptist involved in the fatal crash Namulanda along Entebbe Road that claimed the lives of 2 journalists and seriously injured another, has been arrested in a joint inter-agency operation.

Kananura added that Kigozi will be produced in court at the appropriate time to face the charges arising from the crash. Police said further updates will be provided as the matter progresses.

Meanwhile, Macona is reportedly out of danger and continuing to recover from his injuries. Next Media CEO Kin Kariisa visited him at Case Hospital on Thursday and provided an update on his condition.
