A turquoise butterfly now sits on Dolly Parton’s Hollywood Walk of Fame star, giving the country music icon’s tribute a personal new touch following her death.
The restored star went back on display Friday, September 4, after vandals scratched Parton’s name off the landmark.
The timing made the damage especially upsetting for fans. Parton died on August 25 at age 80, and admirers had already filled the area around her star with flowers and other tributes.
The Star Had Already Needed Repairs
The Hollywood Historic Trust handled the restoration after the vandalism.
The star had developed cracks before the incident, and officials had already planned to fix it. The vandalism simply brought the repair forward.
Parton’s connection to butterflies makes the new design especially fitting. The colourful insects have long featured in her world, from her fashion to her music and public image.
The singer received the Hollywood honour in 1984 alongside Sylvester Stallone while the pair promoted “Rhinestone.”
Now her restored star carries a small butterfly above her name, adding a new detail to a Hollywood tribute that has already become a gathering place for fans.
